Overview

Programmable keys, also called BLF (Busy Lamp Field) or DSS (Direct Station Selection), are located on the sides of your phone’s screen or in the BLF panel of your desktop application.
Depending on your phone model, the number of buttons may vary.

Examples:

  • T23 = 3 keys

  • T27 = 21 keys over 3 pages

  • T31 = 2 keys

  • T33 = 12 keys over 4 pages

  • T42 = 15 keys over 3 pages

  • T46 = 27 keys over 3 pages

  • T53 = 21 keys over 3 pages

  • T54 = 27 keys over 3 pages

If your phone has 4 or more programmable keys, you can configure multiple pages of keys. In this case, the last button at the bottom right allows you to switch pages and access the other keys.

It is also possible to extend the number of keys with an expansion module.
Contact TicTelecom to learn which modules are compatible with your phone model. These modules can typically add up to 60 keys over 3 pages.
Some phones can support up to 3 modules side by side, for a potential total of 207 keys!

Setup

Key customization is done through the user web interface (web client).

Ask your administrator or TicTelecom to send you your “Welcome” email if you don’t have access to your web client.

Note: For more information about the web client, please see the related document.

From your web client:

  1. Click  Settings.

  2. Then click BLF.

You will now see the keys currently programmed for your extension, displayed in two columns:

  • The numbers on the left represent the key position on your phone.

  • The first column defines the key action, the second defines the value.

Click on an action to see the available options.

Note: Shared Parking (SP) keys can only be modified by an administrator via the management console.

Available Actions

  • Unassigned:
    The key has no action.

  • Line:
Allows creating a new call, shows calls on hold, and blinks for incoming calls.
Useful for managing multiple calls simultaneously.
Not mandatory — you can also manage multiple calls using the up/down arrows on your phone.

  • BLF (Busy Lamp Field):

    • Call the defined user (new call).

    • Transfer a current call to the user (press the button during the call).

    • Pick up a ringing call for that user (red blinking light).

    • LED indicators:

      • Idle = Green

      • Ringing = Blinking Red

      • Busy = Red
Note: Statuses like Do Not Disturb do not affect BLF light color.

  • Speed Dial (Internal):
Shortcut to dial an internal extension number. No presence/LED information.

  • Custom Speed Dial (External):
Shortcut to dial any external number or access code. Requires number + first/last name to be displayed. No LED indicator.

  • Login/Logout Queues:
Allows toggling your status in call queues you belong to (Connected/Disconnected).
Note: Cannot rejoin a queue you left manually from the web client. Use the web client’s Panel for detailed queue management.

  • Change Profile:
Changes your extension status (Available, Away, Do Not Disturb, Custom 1, Custom 2). No LED indicator.

Applying Changes

Once modified, changes appear immediately in your 3CX applications.

For physical phones, you must update (re-provision) the phone configuration:

  • Phones update automatically every 24h. You can wait for this cycle.

  • An administrator can re-provision the phone from the admin interface (Phones section).

  • You can update manually from the phone’s basic settings menu.

  • Restart the phone by holding the “x” button for 6 seconds or unplugging power.
